Bibilemulla Rajamaha Viharaya

Bibilemulla Rajamaha Viharaya is an ancient temple complex hidden between Bibile and Monaragala. The current temple is believed to be built by King Keerthi Sri Rajasinhe (1747 – 1781) of Kandyan Kingdom. But the history of the temple had been much longer considering the granite pillars at the site. The ancient Discourse Room and Buddha Bhikkus Disciplinary Hall of the temple have been declared as protected archaeological monuments in 2009.

The temple can be reached from Monaragala by traveling 31 kilometers on the Hulandawa – Bibile road and taking the left turn at Nannapurawa Junction. Coming from Bible, travel 9 kilometers on the same route to reach Nannapurawa.
